A little boy is at the train station with his mother, when all of a sudden he loses sight of her. He
starts to panic and turns around and around
looking for her. He soon breaks out in tears.
Then there is a VoiceOver saying "if this is how your child feels after losing you for a minute, imagine how they'd feel after losing you for life". Then there is a[[#| phone]]external image arrow-10x10.png number for the Quit Smoking hotline.
This ad is targeted at parents who smoke.
-appealing to emotion–guilt, sadness
-using a question which leaves you thinking about it.
- direct address
-exaggeration-you think it's an exaggeration but then you think about it more and you realise that it's not.
- the colour in the video was grey and sad
- the set was a place that is familiar to all of us and somewhere that we all know can be busy.
- the music was simple, sad and quiet
-the camera movements were slow and allowed us to concentrate on what is happening.
- they used a very cute young child to get the attention of the audience.
- the message comes across in a very subtle, natural waY.
the purpose of the ad is to encourage more people to quit smoking and to give them a reason to quit smoking, by calling the Quit hotline.
